Man Within Labyrinth

$350.00
Labyrinths and mazes are very different. Mazes have dead-ends and are meant to confuse the person inside them. They instill fear and anxiety. Labyrinths, however, are meant to be soothing and meditative. They have a single pathway that is organized in a symmetrical pattern around which you come to the inner sanctum. The person walking a labyrinth is meant to meditate and think about their spiritual progress as they progress to the labyrinth's center.

Chrisitian churches and cathedrals around the world use labyrinths as a visual means to teach worshippers about their faith. The labyrinth is a metaphor for faith: if one follows the path they will find inner peace when they come to the inner sanctum of the labyrinth.

I made this miniature model out of walnut to find my personal inner peace. I've placed in the center of this labyrinth a portait of a beautiful man. This piece is meant to be a mediation on attraction and the seeming complex way to find it (labyrinths often look complicated at first glance). But if one simply follows the path, the route to beauty's pleasure is a pattern that ends in bliss.
